“If My Candidate Loses …”

Today’s post is the final installment of a series on Jesus’ Beatitudes leading up to Election Day 2020.

Today’s beatitude: Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Matthew 5:11-12)

Today is the day! Nov. 3, 2020 is here.

A very good post has been circulating on social media:

You know what I’m going to do the day after Election Day if my candidate loses?

Go to work.

Be happy.

Live my life.

Love others.

If he wins?

Same.

What a great attitude. No matter the outcome, we can carry on by living the right way.

I’m going to piggyback on that post with this:

What is God going to do after Election Day, no matter which candidate wins?

Continue His gracious work of upholding the universe and calling all to faith by the Gospel!

Inspire all who trust in Jesus to rejoice and be glad!

Give eternal life to all who believe in Christ!

Pour out His love through the world’s only Savior from sin, death, and the devil!

Please pray with me:

Lord, may Your will be done today in our nation. Raise up the man You desire to govern us for the next four years. Fill him with wisdom. Under His direction, protect us from every bodily danger. Preserve peace within our nation’s borders. Guide our president’s interactions with other nations. Guard him against all abuse of his authority. Send Your Spirit so that he may accomplish great things according to Your will. Help us as citizens to support him, pray for him, and honor him as our duly elected leader. And grant a spirit of unity and kindness among all of us as residents of this blessed nation. In the name of Jesus, Lord of heaven and earth. Amen.

In God we trust!
